Random Rotating Blogger ToolWell this is new gadget specially for blogger users. This gadget shows your blog post randomly one by one with excerpt. You can easily install it in 3 steps and can place it above the posts or somewhere else.

Now let me tell it's features first provided from the author...

1. Shows one post title at a time.
2. Links to the post.
3. Shows post excerpt also.
4. Every 5 seconds shows a new post.
5. Cycles through all the posts in the blog.
6. Starts a new cycle at the end of the list.
7. Once loaded continues cycling even when not connected to the Internet.
8. Uses official Google AJAX technology.
9. Can be used on other blogging platforms (not tested).
10. Hovering with mouse cursor over the post title halts the rotation till mouse moves off the gadget.


How It Works?

To save space and yet show all posts one by one this gadget uses official Google AJAX API Feed technology and the Dynamic Feed Control. It fetches the post titles and data from your blog and displays it in the gadget.

Installation

As I said in starting, installing this gadget is possible in just 3 steps which are as follow:

1. Go to Blogger Account>Blog>Layout. Here on the Page Elements tab, click on add gadget and then scroll down to click on Add Html/Javascript gadget.

2. Now on the blank space fill it with the following code.

To eliminate any problem, you can also get the code from this text file.

In the following code above you have to first edit the things which are marked in bold Otherwise it won't work for you.

Change "MYBLOG" to actual blog subdomain which you registered with and "BLOG_TITLE" to actual title of your blog. And after that Click on Save Button.

3. Now to make it look nice drag this gadget above the posts. See the screenshot for proper understanding:


Please make sure that after dragging the gadget you click on the save button to make that gadget look at that place.

Statistics Widget for Blogger

Just came to know about this cool widget n it's easy to use also. This widget basically shows Quick Stats Of your blog which includes "Total Posts" n "Total Comments" on your blog.You can see the working of it in my blog in the sidebar at the bottom.


If you are interested to display the total number of posts and total number of comments on your blog, please follow the instructions below.



1.Log in to your Blogger account.

2.In your Blogger Dashboard, click on the "Layout" link.

3.This will bring you to the "Page Elements" tab. Decide where you want to insert the statistics widget and click on the "Add a Gadget" link accordingly.

4.Scroll down the list and click on "HTML/JavaScript" button.

5.This will open the "Configure HTML/JavaScript" window. In the title section, please type "Blog Statistics" or "Blog Information" or "Blog Data" or any title you wish to.

6.In the content section, copy & paste the following code exactly:

Blogumus: A animated label cloud for Blogger!

Amanda Of Blogger Buster Launched this Awesome Animated Label Cloud for blogger "Blogumus" converting Roy Tanck's WP Cumulus plugin for us.The result is the widget you can see in action in the sidebar of my blog. Hover your mouse over the Flash object to see the animation begin. In this post, I'll explain how you can add Blogumus to your own Blogger layout.



How it works

This widget uses a combination of JavaScript and Flash animation to parse and display your blog labels. Once installed in your template, it should work "out of the box" without any additional tweaking required, though of course you may prefer to change the variables for color, background and size if appropriate :) You should also be able to move the Label Cloud widget through the Page Elements page of your dashboard if you prefer display in a different layout location. To see Blogumus in action, both Flash and Javascript must be installed and enabled for your internet browser. However, it does degrade relatively gracefully, and label links will still be clickable (though not animated) for those who do not use JavaScript of Flash (including search engine spiders).




How to install Blogumus in your Blogger layout

Installing Blogumus in your Blogger layout is surprisingly simple! You should only need to copy and paste a section of code to your Blogger template, though any tweaks for the style of display will require some manual editing. Here are the steps required to install Blogumus in your Blogger layout: Go to Layout>Edit HTML in your Blogger dashboard, and search for the following line (or similar):

Then paste the following section of code below above line.

Then preview your template.If you see it in your sidebar then save it.
Now All you have to do is matching the colors.For this read below..

In this default installation, Blogumus includes the following preset variables:

  • Width is set to 240px

  • Height is set to 300px;

  • Background color is white

  • Test color is grey

  • Font size is "12"

If you would prefer to make your widget wider, shorter, change the color scheme, etc, you will need to do this by editing various parts of the code. I'll go through these options in the order they appear in the widget code.

Editing width and height

The variables for width and height are found in this line of the script:

The width (currently 240) is highlighted in red, while the height (300px default) is highlighted in blue. These numerical values specify the width and height in pixels, so you can alter these of you prefer.


Editing background color

You can change the background color from white to any other color by altering the hex value in the same line:

For example, if you prefer a bright red background, you may replace #ffffff with #ff0000. Take a look at this page for a list of commonly used hex color codes.

Alter the color of text

By default, the text is set to display as dark grey ( hex value #333333). You can alter this variable in the following line:

Be aware that "tcolor" is a Flash variable and doesn't include the usual hash symbol of hex color codes. Be sure to only replace the numbers!

Adjust the font size

The maximum font size of tags is specified in this line:


so.addVariable("tagcloud", "<tags><b:loop values='data:labels' var='label'><a expr:href='data:label.url' style='12'><data:label.name/></a></b:loop></tags>");

You can alter this to ensure tags are displayed in a bigger or smaller font if you prefer by changing "12" to a larger or smaller number.

While making any of these changes, you should be able to preview your widget and be certain that your new choice of color, dimensions and background are suitable for your needs.

Would you like to know who enjoys reading your blog? Or stay updated with your favorite blogs right from your Blogger dashboard? You can do those things and more with Blogger's new Following feature.

The Following feature will be rolled out to all over the next few weeks, so if you don’t see it right away, don’t worry. It’s coming soon.
I think it would be a great feature knowing who is following your blog, and I m waiting for it's launch.It's currently in Experimental Stage so i can not give much info about it as i can not use it.

By following your blog, your readers tell you and the world that they’re a fan of what you post. Your Dashboard now shows you how many followers each of your blogs has. With a click on the Followers icon, you can browse your followers, see what blogs they write, and read the other blogs they’re following.

Now that you know who your Followers are, you can show them off by adding the Followers gadget to your blog’s sidebar. From the Page Elements” tab, click “Add a Gadget” and select “Followers” from the gadgets list.

The Followers gadget shows the profile pictures of your followers and gives your readers a “Follow This Blog” link to join up, too.

Your followers can stay updated with your blog with the Reading List that we’ve added to the Blogger Dashboard. The Blogs I’m Following tab automatically shows the latest posts from all the blogs you follow. You can follow any blog from your reading list, even blogs that haven’t added the Followers widget or aren’t hosted on Blogger. Just click the “Add” button and type in the blog’s URL.
If you’re a Google Reader user, you’ll now see a special folder in Reader called “Blogs I’m Following,” full of the subscriptions for all of the blogs you follow. You can follow blogs you’ve subscribed to in Reader, too: From the Reading List on your Blogger Dashboard, click “Add,” then “Import from Google Reader.”

1.As reported on Blogger Buster (and elsewhere), the 3rd party Add Widget API was broken. It has been fixed.

2.The new button style appears clickable in all browers.

3.The Blog List widget can show thumbnails specified in Media RSS feeds.

4.Atom feeds now include the blog’s description as the element.

New Blogger Updates Of August 14

Today Blogger Announced Some New n Interesting Updates.These Are Some updates provided from blogger buzz.



  • There’s a new look for the Blogger Dashboard, which we think you’ll find more attractive and functional. If you have a ton of blogs (as we do) try out the “hide” and “show all” links to help manage the list.
  • Google Gadgets in your Layouts blog can now set their height automatically (if the gadget author supports it). Read more about adding Google Gadgets to your blog.
  • AdSense page elements can now optionally have image ads. We’ve found image ads have a higher click-through rate, so you might get more money if you turn them on.


  • We wrote up a Features page to help you keep track of everything you can do with Blogger. Take a look and see if you’ve been missing out on something cool.
  • The Flag Blog button in the Blogger navbar now pops up a window for you to tell us why you think the blog violates our terms of service. Flag Blog is always handled exclusively by human reviewers, not the automated spam locking system, so this information will better help them decide what, if any, action should be taken.
And also fixed some bugs, including:
  • Fixed Moto template header overlap in IE7.
  • Blocked the /feedReaderJson URL from web crawlers, to reduce 404s in Webmaster Tools.
  • Increased cacheability of CSS and JavaScript throughout Blogger, for faster page loads.
  • Button style and layout improvements throughout Blogger.

New feature: Reactions

With the new Reactions feature, you can get one-click feedback from your readers. Think of it as a mini-poll for each blog post, or a flexible version of star ratings because you customize what options are available. We hope this will help your blogs get feedback from people who read your posts but don’t have enough to say to for a full comment.



To enable Reactions, log in to http://draft.blogger.com/ and go to your Layouts page. From there, click the “Edit” link for the Blog Posts gadget and then check the “Reactions” checkbox. You can edit the Reactions buttons by clicking "Edit" or clicking the buttons themselves, as shown.

You can customize the location of the Reactions within the post by dragging the preview around in the “Arrange Items” box. We’ve found that it looks best when it’s on its own line, but your mileage may vary.



You can customize the options and their label to match the theme and style of your blog.


Additional Notes
  • This is a Layouts-only feature. If you’re using a Classic template you’ll need to upgrade to Layouts to add Reactions.
  • The buttons should blend seamlessly with most blog backgrounds. Button backgrounds are a mostly transparent grey which should, we hope, coordinate with everything. The text and button highlight colors for the ratings are taken from the following skin variables:
    • Foreground: textcolor, textColor, mainTextColor
    • Highlight: linkcolor, linkColor, mainLinkColor
  • If you have customized your blog widget’s template you may not see the reactions. You will need to either reset your blog widget’s template or copy the Reactions code from a fresh template. Search for “reactions-buttons” to find the appropriate block of code.
  • A known issue: if you choose short words/phrases, it’s possible to enter enough options that the line of buttons will wrap (and not look very good). If this happens to you, you'll need to shorten your options or reduce their number.

New Update on 31st July

Blogupp have announced that from now , the BlogUpp! widget may be used in various sizes and layouts. This comes in response to community's request to provide a better fit of the widget in various blog templates. Dealing with it is simple, as usual. After specifying a blog's address, and once its code is generated, there becomes visible the one-click option to choose between:
• Vertical layout (default), which fits in the sidebars of most blog templates;
• Horizontal layout, for wider sidebars;
• 1-blog widget, showing only 1 blog at a time.

*The only thing that needs to be done in case of previously submitted blogs, is to re-enter the blog address at www.blogupp.com, choose the desired customization option, and get the renewed code to replace the previous one in the blog.

I really needed this thing n i have started using the horizontal layout which suits on my blog.
